Street graffiti has become popular in Lima, giving a voice to impoverished communities. Not long ago, Callao Monumental was considered one of the most dangerous and run-down areas in Lima. It was transformed by a private entity, whose objective was to turn Callao into a cultural and creative space where art, culture and investment would flourish. The directors understood that they had to include the community in the restoration process, which is why the initiative was so successful. One year after its inauguration, 60 people from the area have been employed and violence has decreased by 90%.

To portray the power of art and architecture even on a small scale and how I would like to contribute to Peru’s development through design, my passion.
